Troubleshoot HBO NOW on Apple TV

Here are some steps to try if you're having an issue with HBO NOW on your Apple TV.

New Apple TV (4th generation)

Try each of the following steps in order, retrying the action that wasn't working after each step:

Step 1: Restart HBO NOW

  1. On your remote, press Home two times quickly.
  2. Using the Touch surface, tap and swipe HBO NOW up and off the screen to close it.
  3. From the Home screen, restart HBO NOW.

Step 2: Restart your Apple TV

Restart your Apple TV by navigating to Settings > System > Restart.

Step 3: Update your Apple TV software

Make sure that your Apple TV software is up to date by navigating to Settings > System > Software Updates.

Step 4: Delete and reinstall HBO NOW

  1. From the Home screen, move the selection to the HBO NOW app.
  2. Press and hold the Touch surface for two seconds and then press the Play/Pause button.
  3. Choose Delete.
  4. Go to the App Store to find and resinstall HBO NOW.

Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation)

Try each of the following steps in order, retrying the action that wasn't working after each step:

  1. Close HBO NOW, wait a few seconds, and reopen it.
  2. Restart your Apple TV by navigating to Settings > General > Restart.
  3. Make sure that your Apple TV software is up to date by navigating to Settings > General > Software Updates.
